Wayne Rooney’s Dad Cleared in Betting Scandal

Wayne Rooney Sr., father of the Manchester United striker, was cleared of all betting crime charges, after being arrested last year on suspicion of taking part in one. Mr. Rooney was arrested along with several other men who were suspected of attempting to fix a game, but local authorities have announced that no further action will be taken.

This all started in October 2011, when Mr. Rooney and nine other men were arrested on the suspicion that they had attempted to make fraudulent bets on a game that took place in 2010 between Motherwell and Hearts.

The Gambling Commission decided to launch an investigation into the situation after members of the British Bookmakers Association claimed that they had seen suspicious activity relating to this particular match. The ten men were brought up on charges but released on bail as the investigation into the issue continued.

Fortunately, for all of the men involved, the UK Gambling Commission did not find any more evidence. As such, the ten men who were allegedly involved in the crime were cleared of all charges.
