William Hill Receives Nevada Gaming License

Yet another UK gaming brand has made its way into the American gambling market. Following in the footsteps of PlayTech and Bwin.Party, William Hill has recently finalized its plans to enter the American gambling market by getting the green light from the Nevada Gaming Board.

The approval from the gaming board will allow for William Hill to make an number of acquisitions, including American Wagering, Brandywine Bookmaking and Sierra Development’s racing and sportsbook offerings. The acquisition will be finalized on June 27, as William Hill will pay $49 million to obtain these three companies.

“We look forward to working with our new colleagues to grow a leadership position in the Nevada sports betting industry and beyond,” says Ralph Topping of William Hill.

This will allow William Hill to enter the American gaming market without breaking any of the federal government’s laws. Now is the ideal time to be making such deals, as the legalized online gambling in the UK is just on the horizon. This means that when online gambling is legalized, whether at a state level or a federal level, William Hill will be ready to get involved, giving the company a leg up on other international operators.
