UK Punters Lay Money on US Election
The American election is drawing eyes and ears from all over the world who are watching the debating sides and waiting for the possible outcome. There are even some in the UK who are choosing to make a wager and lay bets down on what they think might happen.
As the election comes full circle around the final presidential debate between incumbent Barack Obama and challenger Mitt Romney, UK punters are betting on expected portions of the debate such as a cliché from the longest talker and who will be the winner of the debate. The odds are weighed in Obama’s favour in part due to his popularity around the globe and likely due to Romney’s comments during the Olympics that offended a number of Britons. Odds have even been established on how soon ‘national security’ will be mentioned among the two candidates in the debate, a very popular political phrase ever since September 11 or how the death of Osama bin Laden may be used for political gain.
With sportsbetting such a popular pastime among UK punters it makes sense politics would be turned into a betting sport. Many political insiders often refer to politics as a blood sport that smears character personas in countries around the world and so it becomes exciting to bet on what may happen in a long, drawn out election.
The US election is still two weeks away and anything could happen in that time to change the predicted outcomes. But the sport of politics brings many potential betting opportunities that gamers with a nose for the news can use to boost their odds.
