Poker Pro Gus Hansen Off to Rough Start on Re-Launched Full Tilt Poker

Full Tilt Poker re-launched its real-money gaming operations two weeks ago amid high expectations from poker fans around the world.  Within hours of operations, players had taken virtual seats at the tables and accessed their frozen accounts once again, in order to pick up where they left off.  Several players who returned to the site are revered poker pros including Gus Hansen, who was not so lucky upon his return to the online poker room.  In fact his participation on the re-launched site has come under fire by fans in the US, who unlike UK players are unable to access the re-launched poker site.

Before the site was taken offline, he had been struggling to find his game in the virtual poker room, a struggle which appears to have returned.  His goal is to improve his form on the new site to make up for some of the losses he previously incurred.  However, he is not off to a good start, having lost nearly $2 million within his first week of play, and his total losses on Full Tilt Poker are now reported to be as high as $5 million.

Despite his struggles online, Hansen remains a regular player in televised poker tournaments.  He has won several World Poker Tour tournaments and has a reputation for winning several large poker pots.

Hansen has faced criticism for re-joining Full Tilt Poker by gamers who are unable to follow suit.  He remains a popular poker figure in the US, and US players have expressed unease with Hansen’s decision to participate on the site once again while their accounts remain frozen.  However, he has refused to let this criticism discourage him, stating that he hopes US players will be refunded their outstanding account balances.

“I really hope that with the settlement Americans are paid back. Hopefully the government will fulfill its obligation.”
