Euro Jackpot Winning Ticket Claimed; Winner Remains Anonymous

Last Friday, someone in Britain became richer than the Lewis Hamilon, a sportsman with a net worth of more than £68 million, and has taken the title of the wealthiest sportsman in Britain. While the winning sum has been paid out, and with it the validation of the winning ticket, the winner has chosen not to be named. The ticket had the winning number combination of 4, 30, 31, 38 and 42, and matched both Lucky Stars numbers of 2 and 11. The single ticket holder walked away from the lottery office in Camelot with a total of £73,205,659.50.

This total is currently the 8th highest win based on the National Lottery Rich List, and is actually the second big win paid out so far in 2014 from the EuroMillions lottery. The winner has chosen to keep their anonymity, and will undoubtedly be enjoying their newfound wealth in peace and quiet. It is unlikely that the winner, like many others in their position before them, will publically come forward to admit to their new financial position.

Back in the second week of March, another EuroMillions draw was won by a car mechanic in Coulsdon. Neil Trotter took the 4th place spot on the National Lottery Rich List when he held the winning ticket on the March 14th draw. His winnings of more than £107 million weren’t a huge surprise to him, as he said he had been feeling lucky all week.

Neil planned on spending most of his money supporting a collection of new cars, as he had always been a motor enthusiast. He and his girlfriend of 8 years were also reportedly in the market for some horses to keep, as well as pony for Trotter’s 10 year-old daughter.

The top spot on the National Lottery Rich List was paid out in July 2011 to a couple in Largs, Ayrshire, for more than £161 million. The couple, Colin and Chris Weir, were happily married at the time, but have since gone their separate ways. Winning the lottery can change people’s lives for the better, but more often than not, taking on such a large sum of money can take a toll on relationships.

Since the Weir’s win has kept its spot for nearly three years, it is unknown if and when a winner will ever knock them out of their position on this List. There are also currently a large number of people talking about how many more big winners the EuroMillions will make this year, and ticket sales are

sure to increase even after this newest multimillionaire was created. After all, if they can have two big winners in under 5 months, why not three or 4? While an increase in the grand prize always attracts higher ticket sales, a frequency in wins can also have the same desired result.
