UK-Based Chinese Punter Wins over £81K from 13-Fold Bet Accumulator Using Bonus Bets

A Chinese sportsbook punter who owns and runs a Chinese restaurant in Dunstable hit it big at Ladbrokes when the £110 worth of free bets he staked on a 13-Fold Bet Accumulator returned with £81,611.20 in winnings. Instead of placing odds-on bets on a single favourite football team, the punter chose to use the bonus bets received from Ladbrokes as a single wager placed on a selection of thirteen winning teams spread on all leagues, from the lower tiers of the Scottish football division to the top tiers of the European football.

Apparently, the Chinese punter had a good grasp of his chosen sport and of the teams likely to perform well. His excellent betting predictions included East Fife to win against East Stirlingshire, Italy’s Juventus to beat Germany’s Borussia Dortmund, and of Barcelona’s victory over Man City in the Championship match.  He was correct in guessing that Brentford will beat Blackpool, Derby will lord over Charlton, and Ipswich will trample on Birmingham City. The feisty gambler also placed his money on Middlesbrough in the match against Bolton, on the Wolves against Fulham, and on Watford versus Rotherham match. Without faltering, his accumulated wagers rolled on to the outcomes of the remaining games, Bristol City’s thrashing of Doncaster, on Bristol Rovers licking Braintree, on Grimsby besting Telford, and finally on Preston defeating Walsall.

The Chinese punter sees the big win as a good omen for year 2015, as his good luck came around right after the ushering in of the Year of the Sheep during the Chinese New Year celebrations last February 2015. He preferred to keep his identity a secret but was quite happy in sharing his experience, saying that it was his first big win when all he did was pick the football teams that he thought were the likeliest to win.

The Chinese Ladbrokes customer believes that the activities he did to drive away bad luck and the charms he hung to attract good luck brought him the good fortune. In fact, he is planning to take a trip to Hong Kong to try out his newfound luck at the HK races. The 50-year old restaurateur added that perhaps, it would be his fate to win another big one soon for the second time.

To which Jack Beresford, a spokesperson at Ladbrokes quipped that the punter’s accumulator victory was sweet but definitely not at all sour, the way some Chinese takeaway food goes.

For the benefit of those who are not too familiar with an accumulator bet, it is a type of wagering more popularly known in the U.S. and in other countries as Parlay betting. It is all about betting on two or more picks using a single bet that rolls over on to the next pick if the first betting choice won. This denotes that the punter’s original wager plus the winnings from the first or previous pick will be the amount staked for the next race or sports match.

The roll over continues for as long as the bettor’s picks likewise continue to win until all picks or selections have taken place, and therefore equating to a greater amount of payout when compared to a win gained from a single bet on an individual match. Each selection must win though, since losing even one accumulator pick means losing the original bet and all the money previously won.
