Once 4 of them land stacked over reel 1, they are held in place along with any other identical symbols, and extra Boss Monster symbols are randomly revealed on the screen.

The same feature is triggered in the free spins, once 3 or more scatters land, only with a total of 3 free spins awarded. Basically Monster Wins has only 1 feature, but x 3 in the free spins bonus. The only advantage in the feature is that it can be retriggered by another set of 3 or more scatters on the reels.
