Microgaming continues their colourful and creative run

tarzan-slot-logoTarzan is coming to the online slot world, as one of Microgaming’s latest colourful and creative slot machine games.

Microgaming has been on something of a run when it comes to child-friendly, bubbly, cute and cuddly slot machines, and Tarzan is the latest in that line. Even without a Disney endorsement, Microgaming has been able to nail this theme down to a tee.

Tarzan has been designed as a 5-reel, 40-line slot. The graphics on the reels will be refreshing, if predictable, and the slot comes with a non-progressive jackpot which is being pegged at 1,000x your total bet in all.

Microgaming’s new Tarzan slot doesn’t have a release date yet, although our guess is that it will arrive before the end of November. There has been a fair bit of advertising pumped about for this new game, and a video preview is already available of the title. That all points to a release date which will be sooner than you might think.

What we love

We are kind of in love with the method of triggering bonuses in this game. Microgaming has chosen to feature a bonus wheel as its method of activating bonuses. Players can trigger the bonus wheel with scatter symbols (three is sufficient enough to do the job).

The bonus wheel will cough up either multiplier winnings, a jackpot prize, an instant win bonus, or a free spins bonus. The jackpot you win is determined by the number of scatters you land to trigger the feature. It can be worth 200x, 400x, or the aforementioned 1,000x your total bet, depending on whether you land 3, 4 or 5 scatters.

The free spins feature in this slot is also admirable. It contains Microgaming’s unique Rolling Reels feature, and also offers up Growing Wilds, which is quite similar to the Jungle Jim: El Dorado slot machine game.

What we do not like

Wild symbols in this slot are pretty simplistic. Although they are capable of appearing on all of the reels of the game, they merely act as substitute symbols, and are pretty unadventurous in what they deliver.

Worst of all, though, is the wagering setup. How is Microgaming going to convince players to wager $0.40 per spin on a 40-line game (where paylines are non-adjustable), when they could wager $0.30 for 243 paylines in most other major Microgaming slots?

It’s a big ask for a slot which doesn’t carry a progressive, doesn’t offer huge multipliers, and one which contains a theme which won’t be everybody’s cup of tea.

Worth playing?

Microgaming’s Tarzan slot is going to split the crowd. Lovers of fairytale and fantasy themed slots may dive right in with this game. We’ll freely admit that the bonus wheel feature is pretty nifty, but we’re also kind of hung-up on the $0.40 per spin minimum wager.

That is costly for any Microgaming slot. Personally, the Tarzan theme isn’t our cup of tea, but you may feel differently.
