P&O Cruises – Ventura Casino Review
If you like casino gaming and travelling in style, then Ventura is definitely a cruise ship for you. This ‘Grand-class’ cruise ship is part of the P&O Cruise fleet. It is one of their largest ships weighing in at over 116,000 tonnes and is over 290 metres long. It features plenty of amenities including their popular P&O Monte Carlo Club Casino with a wide selection of games and the nearby Winners’ Bar to provide refreshment.
The casino originally entered service in 2008 when it was christened, but underwent a refit in Hamburg in 2013. This upgrade was necessary for bringing the ship into the modern cruise era and has resulted in many attractive upgrades both to appearance and facilities. This is one of the largest ships built for the British market and can accommodate over 3,000 guests.

P&O CRUISES – VENTURA CASINO DRESS CODE
Guests are welcome to dress casually at the Monte Carlo Club Casino but should do so with other guests in mind. This means you will be asked to change if you are not dressed appropriately, which includes wearing bathing or attire or not wearing shoes – sandals and open-toed shoes are accepted.
FOOD & BEVERAGES
Food and dining locations are spread out across the ship and feature a wide variety of cuisines and styles. There are 12 bars available with different drinking options. If you visit Brodie’s, Champion’s Pub, or Lord’s Tavern you will be in for a typical British pub experience. Sports fans will also find plenty of HD TVs to watch the latest events. Those wanting a more stylish option can visit Explorers, Blue Bar, and Anderson’s Bar for more sophisticated experiences. Here you’ll find a wide selection of cocktails, champagnes, and a wide selection of world-class spirits.
There are more dining locations than bars on the Ventura, with 24 options to choose from. These dining locations are not all restaurants but they also offer places to stop for a snack or a light meal during the deal – including the Afternoon Tea by Eric Lanlard, Café Jardin, and the Grab-and-go. Apart from this you also have plenty of five-course dining restaurants like the Main Restaurant, Gala Evening, and Al Fresco Restaurant. Most of these restaurants offer a choice of either buffet, a la carte, or set menus.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Depending on what you’re in the mood for, Ventura is always offering plenty of special events for your entertainment. These events include musical entertainment and live performances. These events are scattered throughout the ship at the various theatres and stages they have.
- Footlights & Headliners Theatre Productions
- Manhattan Cabaret Performances, Quiz Nights, and Tribute Acts – suitable for the entire family.
- SeaScreen Open Air Cinema
- Three-tier Palladium Theatre is where the most popular performances take place and are also the largest theatre on any British cruise ship.
ACCOMMODATION & TRANSPORTATION
Your accommodation is taken care of as soon as you book your ticket on P&O Ventura. This ship has plenty of rooms available, accommodating over 3,000 guests in their 1,550 cabins. Most of these cabins are designed with luxury in mind and over 60% have balconies.
The four cabin options offer all the accommodation choices you’ll need. For a more modest cabin you can choose the ‘Inside’ or ‘Sea View’ options. The inside is their smallest cabin with approximately 130 square ft of space. You still have your own bathroom and are close to the entertainment on the upper decks. The Sea View is a great option for those not interested in a balcony but still want a view of the ocean. These rooms are the same size as ‘Inside’ and offer the same amenities.
Finally, you have the choice between the ‘Balcony’ and ‘Suite’ cabins, each offering more luxurious experiences than the previous two. The balcony is over 200 square ft and the suite over 400. The Balcony is similar to the other rooms in terms of amenities and doesn’t offer the extras you’ll find the Suite – like a superior bathroom, a lounge, and dressing area.
When you book your cruise make sure you take note of the port of departure. P&O does not take care of your transportation and they leave from various ports throughout the world. During the European summer, they leave from Southampton and Malta and travel throughout the Mediterannean, while in winter they make the voyage down to the Caribbean.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
There are attractions on every floor of the Ventura so make sure you study the deck plan when looking for something to do. The following attractions are some of their most popular:
- Spa & Wellbeing Area

- On-Board Shopping Centre
