Camelot Questions Health Lottery – Again

Camelot is at it again. The National Lottery operator will not give up its fight against the new Health Lottery, and the company has recently come forward to make its case known to the High Court. Camelot states that the Gambling Commission should conduct a statutory review of the Health Lottery’s License.

It seems that Camelot does not truly trust that the Gambling Commission examined the Health Lottery from all angles before licensing it. Even worse, the Health Lottery was recently granted an online gambling license, likely angering Camelot even more.

Camelot states that the Health Lottery is a ‘tax avoidance scheme’. Its members do not believe that the lottery donates enough to charity, despite its name which suggests that it would offer a great deal of money to local health services. Camelot also believes that the Health Lottery’ attempts to commercialize the market are also cause for concern.

The Gambling Commission has resisted Camelot’s requests for the past year, and it does not seem as though it will be easily swayed. According to a spokesperson, it is not the Gambling Commission’s responsibility to protect the National Lottery, which is what it seems to be what Camelot actually wants.
