What we like

Wild Orient is a well-designed slot. The dark green background, made by leaves and ferns, is an excellent use of colour and space. It has a very ominous about it as if we had just stumbled into a deep dark scary jungle. The music they have chosen works perfectly. The slot has a nice layout, and it is all very neat and tidy.

There are also animations, which act as paylines in the game, which we like. When you make a wining payline in the game, if it is made of high value picture symbols they will all do little movement things. It works much better than drawing a line across the reels.

The game also has some noteworthy features. Wild Orient is a skin made to the same template as Bikini Party and Dragon Dance. These three games have identical gameplay, and they all share the Reel Respin feature. We have grown to like this feature. Our first reaction was one of scepticism.

There is a hefty variable cost coming straight out of your bankroll for deciding to use the feature. It is calculated based on the likelihood and magnitude of the wins which your spins could potential make. Let me put that better if by respinning a reel you can win a lot of coins, it will cost a lot to spin.

We found that respinning a single reel in a five of a kind win, to make consecutive five of a kind wins was often more lucrative, than respinning all of the reels. There is a high cost associated with respinning the reels but there are also big winning for landing them. If you are feeling lucky and have the bankroll for it, we recommend giving this a go.

What we don’t like

There is an average jackpot in this game, and we would have liked to see a tastier figurer. This game is a clone of two others, so Microgaming clearly did not dedicate too many resources to it, which includes a jackpot.

I feels like it needs another feature. We like the two features but feel that because you have to pay to respin the reels; there should be another in reel feature to make up for it.

Is this game worth playing?

It is worth playing, what we are doing is treating all of the cloned versions of this game as one and just switching them up every once in a while. It is a nice way to keep playing the same great features but not get bored of the slot. It is a worthy addition to Microgaming’s titles on its own merit, as an exceptional game.
