Win Sum Dim Sum is a new game from Microgaming. It is a clone of another new title, of theirs, SunTide. The gameplay is identical but this time around they have given us a Chinese cuisine theme, based specifically on the dumpling.
Microgaming are a massive competitor in the online slot industry. They are based in the Isle of Man, and have been producing games since 1994, when they started the first online casino. With over 600 titles to their name, you would expect that they make a good game, if even through sheer trial and error.
What We Like
Win Sum Dim Sum has good base gameplay. The symbols have reasonable value and you will find that you win, often enough. It is a medium variance game and when it is developed by Microgaming good gameplay, goes without saying.
We like the free spins feature. It rewards you fifteen free spins, which is standard, but by altering an expanding wild feature from the base game, it becomes an incredibly lucrative feature. In the base game an expanding wild symbol, grows to cover a whole reel but it is confined t the third reel.
This is not the case in the free spins feature, where this symbol will land and expand in any of the middle three reels. The free spins can also be retriggered rewarding the player 30 free spins. This is all the information we could find about retriggering free spins and we are not entirely sure if it means you can win up to 30 free spins, or only play the free spins game twice.
We like that there is big winning potential in this game. It the winnings stay the same as in SunTide, which seems extremely likely we expect an impressive 1,222 x stake in the base game and a potential 3,333x stake, available in the free spins. These are great winnings which will hopefully make up for all the bad things we are about to say.

What we do not like?
This is an ugly game. The red background looks bad, there are no animations and the graphics look dated. Microgaming have done nothing to make this game stand out, and we find that it makes us not want to play it.
We appreciate a nice looking slot, but we are prepared to overlook the games physical appearance if it is an otherwise good game. Win Sum Dim Sum is not an otherwise a good game. The expanding wild symbol will only land on the third reel, which means to use it you have to be lucky enough to land both the symbol and two matching adjacent symbols in the first and second reels.
Those two events happen frequently enough but there is a much smaller chance of them happening together. To add injury to insult, it is a 3×5 slot, and there is one less symbol, this wild can substitute. This makes this feature useless.
Is this game worth playing?
This is an ok game. It does not look good, and offers very little in the way of features. There is some good base gameplay, which will keep you amused and hold a bankroll steady. There are thousands of other games, which would do the exact same thing while looking good.
The symbol values are good, and a large jackpot is on offer, but we still would not recommend this game. If you are loyal to Microgaming, we recommend Bikini Party, which they released recently. But there are literally thousands of games better than this one.
