PokerPlayer UK Tour Wraps Up Penultimate Tournament

Grosvenor Casino’s UK Poker Tour is one of the country’s biggest events for poker.  But for gamers who aren’t as comfortable with the high roller action, the PokerPlayer UK tour is a more affordable way to play.  The tournament is run as a part of Grosvenor Casino, and it allows punters to compete for a seat at the main poker event in addition to the buy-in money.

The tour made its stop in Leeds this previous weekend after stops in Newcastle, Brighton, and Coventry with the final leg of the tour expected in London the weekend of November 17 and 18.  The buy-ins are for £110, which in the Leeds leg of the tour accumulated to over £11,900 after 119 players chose to stake their bets.  The games then whittled the players down to the top 10, who each walked away with a £270 reward for making it to the final group.

The two finalists were locals Graham Hinchliffe and Graham Peckover, who chose to split the grand prize between each other as an acknowledgement of the other’s skills.  However, they did play out their final game to compete for the GUKPT Main Event seat, which Peckover won on an all in bet.  He said all the players himself included, were playing very well through the tournament, “but even the best player in the world needs some luck.”

The PokerPlayer tour now takes a temporary reprieve for the next few weeks before closing out in London.  Players will compete for the total money staked on the game, as well as the remaining GUKPT Main Event seat.
