4 Corners of Rome Slot Machine – Free Play & Review
The promise of the slot’s title is that we’re going to Rome, but it should be noted that they’re talking about the ancient version of it. Ancient Rome is actually the star in quite a few slot machines already, but it’s interesting to see the unique mechanics of 4 Corners of Rome, and their use of the game area’s corners. You get a glimpse of the city’s temples and statues behind the reels, but you don’t see them clearly.
Its list of symbols has the boring card suit icons initially, all four of them present. We then move on to icons with scrolls, wine jugs, soldier’s helmets, or the W logo (wild and top paying symbol).
Developer
As with a lot of other slot machines we’ve been getting in recent years, this game is the result of a partnership. The creator is Northern Lights Gaming, while the one that helped them is a giant like Games Global/Microgaming.
Basic Information
How To Play It
Click on the right button, to open up a menu with possible bet values. They start from a minimum of just $0.10, and could go as high as $30.
4 Corners of Rome gets a large game area, with 5×5 reels, and there are 40 win lines present there. 3 to 5 symbols will form winning combinations, if they’re of the same type and they’re aligned on an active line, from left to right.
Special Features
One of the major features of the slot comes via the W logo, a substitute symbol. Besides that ability to help out with smaller wins, it also pays its own, when it lands up to 5 times on a line. It’s paying 2.50x the stake then, same as the top symbol.
As for the mechanics involving the four corners, those require matching symbols to appear in diagonally opposite positions. This locks the symbols found between them, in a diagonal, and then all those positions are transformed into the symbols shown in the corners. If there are two lines which intersect, you get a wild there. Respins follow, until no more new wins form.
Lock and Load Multipliers are collected when you get Multiplier symbols or just 2 scatters to appear. You get to use the multiplier during free spins. Up to 5x multipliers can be collected and used on Lock and Load wins. They don’t reset if you get them during free spins, not until the feature is over.
Via 3 bonus symbols (which can only appear on reels 2-4), you can get access to 3 to 9 free spins, where 4 to 2 corners are transformed into wilds. You get to choose for yourself the kind of experience you want here, and how much you want to risk.
Each round comes with a guaranteed Lock and Load, since you get at least 2 wilds in the corners each time.
Fully Charged is a feature that can trigger if you manage to lock all the reels during free spins. Additional free spins are awarded then.
Maximum Payouts
I’m OK with the rewards that 4 Corners of Rome can deliver, though I’m not impressed with them. 6,300x the stake is the type of payout that looks good, but there is room for better once you consider that this slot is highly volatile. At least the maximum RTP is decent, at 96.12%, but you need to shop around until you find a casino that uses it.
Summary
4 Corners of Rome looks like a pretty good slot machine overall, especially thanks to the use of the game area’s corners for one of its major features. I’d recommend it, even though it doesn’t do as well as others in delivering truly big wins.
