As with the other games from the Break Away series, Lucky Wilds relies on a hockey themed design. It also keeps the 5×5 reels that the Deluxe version used, along with the original symbols. Despite the age of these symbols, they still look good, which is a testament to the work that Microgaming put into it originally.

As for what those symbols show us, we have the game logo as the wild, a flaming puck as a scatter, followed by four icons with individual players, one with a couple of them together, the ice ring, equipment, skating shoes and the Zamboni machine.

It’s not just Microgaming that we have to thank for this third installment in the Break Away series. Lucky Wilds was developed for them by Stormcraft Studios, the same one that also worked on the Deluxe version.

How To Play It

All lines must be covered by wagers, but you have the possibility to vary the number of coins which are used, even if they are worth only $0.01. With up to 10 coins used on 88 lines, the wagers have a range of $0.88 to $8.80. Not very high, but the game has awesome potential, so it’s completely understandable.

You’re looking at a slot machine with 5×5 reels, where there will be 88 active lines. Winning combinations must form with 3 or more matching symbols, if they land on the same line and go from left to right.

Special Features

A big feature, the Rolling Reels are going to try and help you get more wins in a single round. They are available for all types of spins, both paid and free, and they trigger whenever a winning combination forms. You will notice the winning symbols being removed, and then others rolling in. If new wins form, then the Rolling Reels keep triggering.

Wilds will show up in super stacked mode, and they are present on the middle reels, where they are used as substitutes.

Smashing Wilds are also going be available at random, though it’s a feature that only the base game will get. It will bring hockey players on the screen, which will then transform one of the middle three reels into a full wild, giving you a guaranteed win. The rolls that follow get to use that wild reel as well.

You can access the free spins whenever 3 or more scatters land. It’s your choice, when it comes to which of the three versions you prefer. In each case, the multipliers for the rolling reels and the rate at which the stacked wilds grow changes, along with the number of free spins offered.
