The sequel to their hugely popular Halloween Fortune slot has a lot to live up to; it’s predecessor is probably the best Halloween themed slot on the net.

With witches, black cats and bubbling cauldrons galore, we are going to have to put Halloween Fortune II to the test, and it is going to have to excel beyond anything we can imagine to trump that original Playtech Halloween themed slot.

How to play the Halloween Fortune II Video Slot

For a kick-off, Playtech has decided to boost the number of paylines which appear in Halloween Fortune II. The first slot featured 20 lines, and that has been extended to 25 in the sequel, meaning that your minimum wager now cost £0.05 more per spin, at £0.25 in total.

Players wanted to wager significantly more in this slot will be somewhat content with the £250 maximum wager limits which have been put on the slot machine.

That will suit most players down the ground. If you want quick and speedy gameplay, Halloween Fortune II also contains a turbo mode that we don’t remember being present in the first game.

Features

Wild symbols: Wins with wilds are possible once more in Halloween Fortune. The slot uses the same symbol as its wild (a pumpkin lantern) and once more it can offer you the biggest and best wins in the game. As usual, wilds can substitute for all other icons, save for scatter symbols.

Scatter symbols: Those scatter symbols appear as the slot’s title logo. We preferred it when the cauldron was the bonus icon (in the original), but we’ll have to do with this simple and boring icon offer up scattered wins and bonuses.

Free spins bonus: When players land 3 of the boring bonus icons on the reels, they can pocket a total of 10 free games. Those free spins come with multipliers which start off at 2x, and increase as the round continues.

By the time you get to your final 2 spins, you will be pocketed multipliers worth 6x on your wins. During the entire bonus, players can prosper from a frozen wild, which sits in the middle of the third reel.

Maximum pay-outs

You used to be able to win 10,000 coins playing the Halloween Fortune slot machine. In its sequel, this has been cut to just 3,000 coins.

Players still need to line up 5 Jack o’lantern pumpkin wild symbols on the reels, though, just like in the first slot. Our only guess for the drop in prize value is because there are more paylines to win on.

Summary

We’re not “dissing” Halloween Fortune II here. The slot is good, and it is miles better than many of the other cheesy, poorly designed, and graphically woeful Halloween themed slots out there.

But for all its appeal, it doesn’t quite scare its predecessor stiff, let alone put it into an early grave.

The original game contained a Witches’ Brew Bonus (which offered big multipliers and instant cash wins), and that is absent from this slot. It also offered a mightier jackpot, even if there were fewer paylines. The imagery was also more relevant to Halloween as a whole.

Halloween Fortune II is a top slot, and given the choice between this and any other Halloween themed slot bar the original, we’d pick this one.

When it competes against the first Halloween Fortune slot, though, even this mighty sequel must bow down to the master of this genre. It is as simple as that.

Developers

Playtech is certainly not short of Halloween themed slots, but the original game is by far the best (and not just in terms of Playtech slots). Halloween Fortune offered up everything you would expect with such a game, and it wasn’t shy when it came to features or big prizes, either.

Playtech, in general, are known for their richly rewarding video slots, so it would be a definite surprise if they have failed to deliver with this sequel slot. It is time to find out if Playtech’s latest spooky sensation passes the test. Are we looking at a trick, or a treat this Halloween?
