I thought I’ve seen it all, but a good developer can always surprise, and Hacksaw Gaming definitely managed it with King Carrot. As a main characters, they’ve went with a carrot, which is one of the more unusual things about this game. It’s a large game area as well, one which they’ve populated with a variety of happy-looking fruits. It’s all surrounded by green grass and trees, and it looks inviting, despite the cartoon-like graphics.

King Carrot is obviously the main character of the slot, but there is more here. We’re seeing a W logo as the wild, along with the carrot as the top symbol, and 8 types of fruit in the other symbols (watermelon, apple, lemon, blueberry, strawberry, grape, pear, and a raspberry).

Developer

Hacksaw Gaming is a developer which was founded in 2018, creators of more than 20 slot machines so far. They’re focusing heavily on mobile devices, and they have a large collection of scratch ticket games released as well. How To Play It

It relies on a regular betting range, which allows you to spend anywhere between $0.20 and $100, per spin.

What this gets you, is a Cluster Pays game, which has 7×7 symbols. There are four medium and four low value symbols, along with one high value Carrot. They all pay when forming clusters of 5 or more symbols, and for best results you need 14+ grouped up for most symbols. Carrots can improve pays even for clusters of 49 symbols.

Special Features

Besides forming clusters, there is an additional mechanic which revolves around King Carrot. Whenever he lands on the reels, one of the low value symbols will be chosen to be replaced with carrots, in all its instances. You can get several King Carrot icons at the same time, and so you can replace multiple symbols as well. A respin is also used, for any round where King Carrot lands.

Randomly, as symbols are being replaced with carrots, there is a chance that 1 to 3 Epic King Carrots may show up instead. This adds a multiplier to a random carrot, to be used only for one cluster of winning symbols. What’s great though, is that up to 100x multipliers can be applied this way.

Carrot Carnage would be the name of the main feature, which triggers when you have 3+ scattered FS symbols. There are 10 free spins there for you. As you advance, and you replace low symbols with carrots, they remain this way for the rest of the feature. Respins are still offered.

Bird Attacks are random events, which will have a bird show up and take away symbols from a random column and/or row. The empty positions will be occupied by new symbols, which could lead to more wins. The only ones that can’t be removed, are the FS scatters and the wilds.

Maximum Payouts

Provided that you get enough carrots to appear on the reels, wins of up to 10,000x the stake should be possible. This is true if you can get the multipliers from the Epic King Carrot applied as well. Without them, clusters of 49 carrots would pay 500x the stake.

As fun as this game is, and with excellent potential as well, the volatility is only a medium, so it’s easy to play. Different RTP values can be used, and the one I’d recommend you look for is at 96.30%.

Overall, I found King Carrot to be an enjoyable slot machine, which delivers gorgeous graphics, unique mechanics, and above average rewards for the type of risk that you’re taking.
