Danger looms ahead in Mega Don, the latest ocean-themed slot machine from Play n GO. They chose a dangerous shark as its main character and as the focus of its theme. They did a great job with its implementation, you really feel the danger that such a creature would pose to humans. The backdrop is not underneath the ocean’s surface, but rather a view from the top.

There is a decent mix of symbols found on those reels, with fish colored in purple, blue, green, or yellow, and then with swordfish and three types of sharks. The list ends up with the top-paying Mega Don, the huge shark that rules the game’s reels. A wild is also present, and it’s shown as a logo placed between a shark’s teeth.

I think you’re going to be satisfied with this game, if you’ve tried other Play n Go slots in the past. It works the other way around as well, so if you enjoy Mega Don you should give the rest of their collection a chance. There will be hundreds of very good slots that you can choose from.

How To Play It

Mega Don’s bets require a minimum of $0.10 for your next spin, and they could go as high as $100 if you wanted to spend more.

It’s going to be a setup that you can easily get elsewhere, with 5×4 reels used to support 1,024 ways to win. The winning combinations are formed via 2-3 or more matching symbols, when they land on adjacent reels and starting from the leftmost column. Often enough, the symbols which land will show up stacked.

Special Features

A useful feature, but fairly basic overall, the Wild is present in the game and it can be combined with any of the regular symbols, to try and form combinations. It doesn’t replace a scatter though.

Ultimately, you’re trying to get access to the feature called Shark Feast. These consist of free spins, and to get to them you will need between 3 and 5 Shark Sign scatters anywhere on the 5 reels. Depending on the number of triggering symbols, you get one of the following:

• 6 free spins and 1 upgrading symbol;

• 9 free spins and 2 upgrading symbols;

• 12 free spins and 3 upgrading symbols.

You can have more upgrading symbols, by retriggering this feature. Up to 6 are available, and when they land on the reels they get turned into a Shark (one of the premium symbols).

During the free spins you get a lot more premium symbols to form combinations, so obviously the potential to win is much better there.

Mega Don’s jackpot is pretty good, and at 10,000x I’d even call it above average if we’re looking at a slot machine like this, where volatility is only Medium. Your best odds of getting close to that prize is during the free spins.

Watch out for the RTP. While you can find the game with a 96.20% RTP, there are also four other lower levels that operators may use, going down from 94.20% to 84.20%.

Summary

Mega Don has its own theme to show off, or at least its unique angle thanks to the inclusion of that huge shark. That’s already an advantage, since so many other slot machines lack originality. I think that the features show some of that originality as well, and overall the slot is worth it.
