Play n GO is no stranger to branded slot machines, and Saxon is only one of quite a few titles they released so far, which are taking inspiration from various bands. More often than not, we’re talking about bands which were especially popular in the past, which is the case with Saxon as well.

A big advantage is that fans of the genre will get to hear some of their popular songs, and there is even the option for you to pick the one you want playing in the background.

Symbols will include the card suits, all four present on the reels in the less valuable positions, but there are also better options, with images of singers, motorcycles, leather jackets, an insignia and a helm.

It’s one of Play n Go’s slot machines, part of a bigger rock series with branded titles. It also includes slots like Annihilator, Black Mamba, Demon or Twisted Sister, all of them excellent if you enjoy heavy metal. Quality wise, they’re always great, with big top payouts which make it worth trying out.

How To Play It

For the betting range of Saxon, you’re looking at standard options, starting from $0.10 and potentially reaching a maximum at $100.

It’s not a game that will allow you to form a lot of wins, since there are only 10 lines present on its 5×3 reels. That doesn’t stop it from being able to pay extremely well though. Stacked symbols are used, and they improve the chances of forming multiple combinations at a time.

Special Features

Expanding wilds are available in the game, offering the player a better chance of forming wins. It shows up on all reels if you’re really lucky, delivering rewards of up to 50x the stake on each line.

You will notice that the game uses stacked symbols heavily. Besides the fact that this adds to the volatility, there is also an extra feature in place, where a reel covered by a stacked symbol will give the multiplier of the round a 1x boost, while a stacked wild will boost it by 2x. Of course, the multiplier resets before the next round can begin.

Two different scatter symbols, showing you a Motorcycle and a Singer, are required to get you the free spins. Up to 15 free spins are triggered, though this is decided at random. For the entire duration of the feature, you get to use the multiplier which was active during the triggering spin. With another set of 2+ scatters, the feature can be retriggered.

Maximum Payouts

I really like the game’s potential, since rewards of 10,000x the stake are mentioned. While that requires entire reels covered with wilds, along with big multipliers in the free spins, at least the potential is there. High volatility games like this one will not make it easy on the player, but a lot of players don’t mind it, provided that they get a real shot and the game is fun.

The RTP is quite OK as well, at 96.24%, provided that the casino didn’t decide to use another setting for it. Unfortunately, Play n GO slots do offer that option to the casino.

Summary

Saxon is one of the better slots I’ve seen in the branded rock series from Play n Go, with big rewards, fun features and exciting multipliers which can make it all better. Not for everyone, as its volatility is on the high side, but still a good choice for those that can stomach the risks involved with such slots.
