Slurpy Symbols and Collectors

Slurpy is a video slot with an original mechanic, which doesn’t include any paylines, cluster pays or ways to win. Instead, the symbols on the reels just need to have a connecting path to the collector symbol at the top. If this happens the symbols are just slurped up and depending on their number you get the corresponding payout. This is an interesting mechanic in video slots and one which definitely needs some getting used to.

Theme, Visuals and Sounds

Although the name of the slot indicates this should be a game with a slurpy theme, this is not really the case. Instead, you will see a mix of Asian cuisine, with mythical beings as the game collectors. The symbols have a simple design, so the game has a nice look to it. The animations are modern as expected and the sounds fit with the theme.

Another interesting detail about the Slurpy slot is that all of the regular symbols have the same payouts. So, there isn’t a single symbol with the highest payout. The lowest payout is 0.05x for slurping up 1 to 3 matching symbols, while the highest is 200x when 40 or more matching symbols are collected.

Collectors and Grid Expansion

Each spin starts with one collector symbol on top of the reels. If it has a clear path down to the matching symbol, it will collect the symbols from the reels. After that another collector is added next to him, also collecting matching symbols underneath.

If there are no new symbols to be collected after a win, the most left collector is removed and a new one takes his place from the left side. This continues for as long as wins are formed and the spin ends when no more wins occur.

If all of the symbols are collected from the reels, the grid expands to a 6×6 and then to a 7×7. The number of collectors also increases with the expansions, giving you more chances to land a win on the reels. If you unlock the last grid the win multiplier is increased to 5. It applies to any winning combination on the reels.

Once you collect 3 bonus symbols, you get 5 free drops. During the bonus round, the win multiplier and the number of collectors don’t reset on non-winning spins. Once the feature starts, a new set of symbols is added to the reels. If you collect the extra Slurpie symbol on the reels, you get an extra collector symbol. At any time there can be a maximum of 3 of them on the screen.

You can also land Coin symbols, whose value corresponds with the bet value. If you land the Super Straw it will collect all of the matching symbols from the entire grid. The Long Straw collects one cluster of matching symbols, which are not connected to the top. Each additional bonus symbol which is collected awards an extra 2 free spins.

If you trigger the feature with one super bonus symbol, you enter the super bonus game. Here everything is the same as in the regular free spins. But you start the game on a 7×7 grid and with the maximum 3 collector symbols.

X-iter

I have to admit we had a lot of fun playing Slurpy. The game is interesting and we had to put it to our standard 500 spins test. But in our spins, we only managed to trigger the bonus round twice and both times it was the regular free drops. Our payouts were 112x and 94x, so it was nothing spectacular.
